REEP takes home two awards from Green Communities Canada!
We are very pleased to announce that REEP Green Solutions brought home two awards from the Green Communities Canada Annual General Meeting on June 18, 2015.
The Innovation Award was given to the RAIN Business Visit program, affectionately known as ‘BIZZIT’. The program offers in-depth consultations that help businesses and institutions become RAIN-Smart! Certified RAIN Business Visit guides work with organizations in Kitchener and Waterloo to identify existing and future potential for stormwater credits. The Outstanding Board Member Award was given to Paul Parker, one of REEP’s founders and our longest serving Board member. We are pleased to celebrate Paul’s ready engagement in so many aspects of REEP’s work. Paul is Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Director of the Economic Development Program at the University of Waterloo’s (UW) School of Environment, Enterprise and Development. As a co-founder of REEP in 1999, Paul helped shaped our original mandate, to match academic research with practical action in the community.
Paul was recently recognized for his long time commitment to REEP with a National Volunteer Week profile in UW’s Daily Bulletin. In it he is quoted as saying, “I volunteer because of one word: action. I believe in doing. We need action in the community because ideas drive results.”
REEP is currently looking for new volunteers to answer Paul’s call to action. If you are passionate about making sustainability the norm in Waterloo Region we would love to hear from you. Learn more about volunteer opportunities or contact us for more details.
