Zero Waste Cloth Napkins

Many people use paper towels and napkins because they seem convenient. You can use them to wipe down a mess on your kitchen counter, clean your windows, or maybe to dry off your hands. This is a very wasteful habit though, according to Natural Resources Defense Council, the average american family uses nearly 2 paper towel rolls every week! The pulp and paper industry, for items such as single-use napkins and paper towels, is the third largest industrial producer of carbon dioxide emissions, a major contributor to global warming.

So how can you help?

Start using reusable cloth napkins and handkerchiefs! This will help reduce your contribution to carbon dioxide emissions and save you money in the long run! You can repurpose old fabric to make your own (100% cotton is the most durable), or you can purchase some beautiful handmade options from stores such as Ten Thousand Villages or Etsy.
