Mary Jane Patterson

Mary Jane is the Executive Director of Reep Green Solutions and holds a Masters in Environmental Studies. She has served as a panel judge for the CMHC’s national Affordable Housing Innovation Fund, and on the board of Green Communities Canada as director and chair. Mary Jane was part of a consulting team for the City of Toronto developing their recent policy framework to move existing buildings to net zero carbon by 2050.

Winter Cyclists Need Separated Bike Lanes

Twenty-two years ago, winter cycling was something I did regularly. I got out of the habit when I moved to Kitchener, where there was more snow and less bicycle infrastructure than in Toronto, where I lived before. Walking just seemed safer. More separated bike lanes would change that.
