Our yards can provide many benefits, from soaking up stormwater to providing habitat for native animal species right through the winter months.

At this workshop, you can learn the basics of fall garden maintenance and help us to plant, mulch, and nourish the Waterloo Service Center’s rain garden so that it continues to function well in the coming months. Rain gardens in particular need to be checked on seasonally to make sure they are working well and fall is a great time to transplant and add plant material so that it looks great when it comes out of dormancy in the spring.

Observe first-hand some things you can do (and a few you shouldn’t) this fall to optimize the healthy functioning of your yard, particularly rain gardens. Come prepared to do some gardening!

The workshop will take place outside. Please keep 2 metres apart from anyone who is outside of your social circle.
