Are you a graduate or a post-secondary student looking to make a difference in Waterloo Region? Do you want to use your passion for the environment and communication skills to make our community more sustainable?

Position Summary
In this role, you will use your knowledge of professional communications, social media and marketing to support Reep Green Solutions’ communications goals. You will have one-on-one mentoring with a communications professional to develop skills in marketing, social media strategy, graphic design, event logistics, and professional communications.

You will work with the Communications Manager to develop marketing materials, social media posts, blog posts, and outreach that will help the community understand their role in climate change action.

The role of the Marketing and Events Coordinator

In this role, you will work closely with our Communications Manager to achieve organizational communications goals. You will use your knowledge of social media and marketing to support Reep communications goals in 2026.

Responsibilities:

  • Support our Communications Team in creating marketing materials for Reep programs and ensure project partners are included in the process
  • Create, manage, and schedule unique social media content (images, videos) to increase interest in sustainable living programs and services.
  • Develop graphic design to create attractive marketing materials and advertising for programs (print, online, etc.)
  • Work with the Communications Manager to implement social media and communications strategy
  • Use organizational skills to track major campaign key performance indicators (SEO, social media engagement, event participation, website metrics, etc.)
  • Manage and grow social media audience and track performance metrics
  • Write SEO blog posts on climate action and other relevant topics
  • Assist with upkeep of website using WordPress including updating content, adding events, optimizing pages and researching/implementing best practices
  • Attend weekly and in-person monthly meetings.
  • Assist in creating monthly newsletters
  • Use Canva, MailChimp, WordPress, Eventbrite, Sendible, and other platforms daily to implement Communication and Marketing plans
  • Collaborate with Managers and team members across the organization to support with program’s communications needs

Reep Events:

  • Assist with planning virtual and in-person community-focused events;
  • Coordinate event logistics with partners and event organizers on behalf of Reep
  • Attend community events and outreach pop ups   
  • Manage event planning spreadsheet and logistics 
  • Represent Reep at public events, sharing an understanding of our program offerings and engaging people 
  • Provide support for events by leading preparations, set-up, and take-down of equipment and materials 

  • Develop interactive and passive materials for use at tabling events to ensure quality materials are prepared and targeted for key events 
  • Support event photography needs and capture action photos

Fundraising:

  • Develop communication materials for donors and supporters, and donor funded projects
  • Assist with fundraising materials, including designing brochures, presentations and letters
  • Assist in the development of a donor survey to collect demographic information on current donors
  • Work closely with Manager, Admin, Human Resources & Donor Stewardship for donor funded projects
  • In addition to these responsibilities, other tasks may be added as required by the organization

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of or currently enrolled in a degree or college diploma program in Marketing, Communications or a related field at a Canadian University or College
  • or equivalent experience is an asset
  • 1 or more years of experience in a related field or similar role is preferred.
  • Strong understanding media relations and digital media strategies
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with design tools (e.g., Canva, WordPress) and marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Eventbrite, and Sendible)
  • Alignment with environmental organizations/sustainability knowledge & experience  is an asset
  • Detail oriented with solid editing and researching skills
  • Community engagement and/or public education experience is an asset

Eligibility Requirements: 

This role is partially funded through Canada Summer Jobs; To be eligible for this position you MUST meet the following criteria:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and

Position Summary

As part of our Mission to make sustainable living the norm in our community, we want to engage people in our work through every means possible. The Tree Operations Coordinator is a FULL-TIME CONTRACT position. 

The Tree Operations Coordinator will enjoy working as a valued member of the tree stewardship team. The role will support Reep Green Solutions’ Backyard Tree Planting (BYTP) program, which helps residents get the right tree in the right place with the right care, and the Community Canopy program, which delivers the BYTP program for free in certain neighbourhoods to increase tree equity. The Tree Operations Coordinator will help deliver these programs by assisting with residential property  planting and maintenance, as well as program outreach and engagement across the Waterloo Region and Guelph.

The role will also extend to other green infrastructure activities related to the Tree Trust program, which is focused on caring for and extending the lives of mature, legacy trees across the region. Related responsibilities will include supporting tree care and planting events, as well as helping to facilitate the Tree of the Year campaign. This position requires someone who is detail-oriented, has excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, and enjoys working outdoors.  

This role includes in-person appointments, events and meetings, with some evening and weekend work required. It also includes virtual meetings and working remotely on tasks; having a home workstation set up to work remotely when required will be essential.   

Hours: 5 days/week, totaling 37.5 hours/week

Term: April 20, 2026 to October 16, 2026 with the opportunity for a 1-2 month extension pending funding

Reporting to: Interim Manager, Tree Programs

Part Time to Full Time Contract

 Position Summary  
The Green Infrastructure Designer and Healthy Yards Guide is a part time up to full time contract position that will provide landscape design support for our Rain Smart Neighbourhoods, Guelph Rain Garden Rebate, and Backyard Tree Planting programs.  The Green Infrastructure Designer and Healthy Yards Guide will work with participating property owners to develop plans for adopting green infrastructure that supports municipal goals around urban tree canopy, flood risk reduction, and climate change adaptation.  The successful candidate will guide property owners through initial evaluation and design exercises on-site, as well as provide ongoing advice on developing and implementing green infrastructure projects as needed.   

 Roles & Responsibilities  
The Green Infrastructure Designer and Healthy Yards Guide is the leader responsible for providing site-specific guidance to property owners on adopting green infrastructure and adapting to climate change in their landscape.

Duties:

  • Conduct one-hour, on-site consultations with property owners participating in our Green Infrastructure programs.
  • Provide site-specific guidance on adoption of green infrastructure to property owners.
  • Determine a preferred location and calculate size, depth, and grading requirements for infiltration features. 
  • Follow-up with each participating property owner with additional guidance. 
  • Assist participants in applying for any available incentives for completed work. 
  • Inspect final projects.
  • Keep detailed records and participate in the management and analysis of records as part of monthly reviews for each program.
  • Attend public engagement events that support Kitchener’s Rain Smart Neighbourhoods program.

Details: This is a part time up to full-time role, depending on the candidates’ qualifications at 37.5 hours/week from March 6th 2023 to October 31st 2023; May include evenings and weekends depending on flexibility; This role is on site at variety locations, including Cambridge Elmira; KW Guelph.   

 Hourly Range: $23.00 per hour to $27.76 per hour 

We’re looking for someone with: 

  • University degree or college diploma in landscape architecture, landscape design, or related area 
  • Considerable experience in a related field in a supervisory, technical, or professional capacity may be considered in lieu of education 
  • Intermediate to advanced horticultural knowledge of tree, shrub, and perennial identification  
  • Meticulous attention to detail and follow-through including working with numbers 
  • Strong written, graphic, and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to work independently and to problem solve 
  • Experience delivering an excellent customer experience when working with members of the public 
  • Willingness to work in inclement weather

Summary

Objective of Position:

The Tree Planter will enjoy an experiential learning environment working as a valued member of the tree stewardship team. The role will support Reep Green Solutions’ pilot Roadside Tree Planting Project, which will lead native afforestation efforts along regional and township roads in Waterloo Region. The role may also extend to other green infrastructure activities related to our Backyard Tree Planting project and stewardship events. This position requires someone who is detail-oriented, works well in a team, has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and enjoys physical work outdoors.  

Term: March 30, 2026 to June 12, 2026 with the possibility of extension.

Hours: 4 –5 days/week, hours will vary with a minimum of 30 hours per week to a maximum of 44 hours per week depending on volume.

Hourly Wage: $21.30 per hour

Location: This role is on site at a variety of locations within the Waterloo Region. This role requires frequent in-person on-site meetings.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Conduct tree planting at scheduled locations as part of the Roadside Tree Planting Program
  • Plan for and load daily required supplies
  • Assist with planting site preparation (weed trimming, staking)
  • Plant native tree seedlings in uneven terrain along rural roads according to specified guidelines
  • Identify and inventory planted trees (training provided)
  • Assist with inventorying and daily activity documentation
  • Water and maintain tree stock at seasonal staging site
  • Safely operate and maintain planting equipment to ensure its longevity 
  • Share responsibility to safely drive a pickup truck to planting sites

Qualifications:

  • Tree planting/horticultural or professional landscaping experience is preferred

Registered Energy Advisor in Cambridge, ON

Position Summary  

The Registered Energy Advisor will cover primarily Cambridge, Ontario with surrounding areas such as Brantford and Brant County for the delivery of the EnerGuide Rating System (ERS15) audits. As a member of our friendly and dedicated team of energy professionals, you are responsible for delivering audits, encouraging homeowners to make deep retrofits in their homes, qualify for incentives, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Your work will contribute directly to achieving our new intended impact: By 2030, people impacted by Reep Green Solutions have taken 10,000 meaningful actions to collectively shift our community to a resilient, low carbon future. 

Remuneration is offered on a per-file basis at an industry-competitive rate. Compensation is dependent on file volume and advisor availability. This work is appropriate for someone with the flexibility to work when needed, with no guarantees on the number of audits that can be provided.   

Roles & Responsibilities  

  • Complete EnerGuide Rating System residential energy efficiency evaluations as set forth in training and following all service organization guidelines and policies. 
  • Complete Home Efficiency Rebate Plus evaluations as set forth in the service agreement with Enbridge Gas and Natural Resources Canada. 
  • Encourage and conduct follow-up audits with residential customers as needed. 

We’re looking for someone with: 

  • Must be a NRCan Registered Energy Advisor with 5+ years of experience.  
  • Independent Contractors, liability insurance of not less than $1 000 000 is required. 
  • Possession of a valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle. 
  • Detailed knowledge of the HOT2000 program is required, as well as building construction knowledge.

Position Summary   

The Water Auditor role will be conducting single-family and multi-unit residential buildings consultations. This position requires someone who has specialized knowledge about water conservation technologies, incentive programs and water efficiency practices. This position is responsible for working with clients in Guelph and surrounding areas to maximize residential water efficiency and related environmental impacts.  

 Reporting to: Director, Climate Mitigation Programs  

  Hours: 2-3 days/week, hours will vary, depending on the water audit schedule; Typical hours will range from 15 hours per week up to a maximum of 20 hours/week  

Term: March 17th 2025 to Dec 31st 2025, with the possibility of extension pending funding    

Hourly Wage: $35.00 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct residential audits using the Region of Waterloo and City of Guelph’s audit procedures.
  • Support as back-up for scheduling audits. 
  • Prepare, present and explain custom Home Water Efficiency Plans to residential customers.
  • Promote and conduct follow-up audits with residential customers.
  • Complete and submit, on a timely basis, all required reports and electronic files.
  • Respond promptly to all issues and inquiries.
  • Install (if required) water conservation devices in residences.

Director of Program Management

Full Time Permanent Position in Waterloo Region

Position Summary:

The Director of Program Management is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced people leader and project manager to mentor a team of early career professionals that are passionate to make a difference with their work. The Director will guide the team to stay focused upon Reep’s commitments and partnership obligations, to deliver valued services to community members.

The Director is responsible for the overseeing Reep’s Program Managers, who in turn manage the day-to-day operations of Reep’s services including: energy & water audits; healthy yards programs (i.e. stormwater flood resiliency); and backyard tree planting.

Through continuous improvement of systems and implementing best practices around project management, the Director of Program Management will uphold Reep’s reputation as a trusted delivery agent of high quality and values-based services.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Organizational Leadership 

  • Work closely with the Executive Director in the development of long term strategic plans, annual plans, hiring staff and hiring policies
  • Track results on an ongoing basis, analyze findings, make recommendations on future programming
  • Provide insights into the priorities for future Program Innovation and Development including identifying any necessary resources to accomplish organizational goals 
  • Participate in activities in the community that support the Reep Green Solutions organization
  • In the absence of the Executive Director, when requested, provide overall leadership of the organization

Financial Management 

  • Work with Reep’s Executive Director to systematically plan and track operations, financials, and organizational goals
  • Maintain an ongoing budget of approximately $1M across programs including expense and invoice tracking with support from Reep’s bookkeeper and Executive Director 

Program Management 

  • Supervise the day to day activities of the team delivering Reep’s services and, with the assistance of the Operations Manager, plan for and implement continuous improvement of logistics, processes and customer service
  • Identify and address challenges and troubleshoot difficulties (e.g. escalated customer service complaints), addressing issues in a timely manner
  • Proactively troubleshoot customer service issues to protect and enhance Reep’s reputation 
  • Manage Reep’s team of (3 to 4) Program Managers to provide mentorship and guidance to ensure that their teams are operating efficiently and in line with Reep’s values, mission and vision
  • Take steps to further develop a complementary team with a broad sense of all of our programs and the ability to promote green infrastructure in a wide variety of contexts and circumstances
  • Uphold a high standard of health and safety in all aspects of our service
  • Work with the Communications Manager to develop key messaging for marketing programs and services

Program Development

  • Foster relationships with key partners such as Cities of Kitchener, Cambridge, Waterloo, and Guelph, including working with Program managers to execute work plans and maintain budgets for existing and future projects and/or programs
  • Assess the potential for new partnerships and service offerings consistent with Reep’s mission
  • Explore grants and funding opportunities to further Reep’s initiatives and support existing and potential municipal or community programs
  • Assess Requests for Proposals (RFP) from utilities, municipalities and others 
  • Be prepared to respond quickly to opportunities that arise
  • Assess mission-fit, revenue potential, feasibility and potential partnerships in delivery
  • Prepare Reep’s proposals singly, or jointly with project partners, for positioning Reep’s services to successfully win RFP bids
  • In addition to these responsibilities, other tasks may be added as required by the organization. 

Term:  This is an ongoing permanent role starting July 1st 2025 

Compensation: $65,000 – $75,000 annually depending upon qualifications

Benefits: This is a hybrid role, with a work from home and an in person requirement to attend meetings and events in Waterloo Region. We offer a flexible work schedule with core hours of 9am to 5pm. We offer an Annual Employee Assistance Plan and a Health Care Spending Account.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience of program management and development 
  • 5+ years supervisory experience managing a team
  • 3+ years of financial administration experience 
  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector preferred
  • Residency or close commuting distance to Waterloo Region or willingness to relocate
  • Demonstrated commitment to environmental sustainability
  • Proven and demonstrable relationship building and management skills, including team and consensus building; ability to relate and work successfully with multiple constituencies, both internal and external in order to work toward shared goals
  • Strong communicator and effective at clearly defining staff roles; experience with training new staff and successfully imparting organizational culture across teams
  • Strong understanding of how to enhance reputation through commitment to exceptional customer service principles; experience with Contact Relationship Management (CRM) systems an asset
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills 
  • Ability to manage financial operations, including budget development, financial planning, reporting and internal controls
  • Project Management experience including strategic and program planning
  • Highly effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • A post-secondary degree, diploma or equivalent experience in a relevant field

**Workplace Expectations** All Reep Green Solutions office staff work remotely. Any of the necessary equipment to work remotely such as a laptop will be provided but a stable internet connection is required to be arranged by the employee. Volunteer Position: Tree Nursery Assistant at Reep Green Solutions 

 Reep Green Solutions is an environmental charity that helps people in Waterloo Region live sustainably. Our programs on home energy efficiency, water conservation, healthy yards, and waste reduction empower participants to take action. In support of Reep’s mission and as part of Canada’s 2 Billion Trees program, Reep Green Solutions is creating a new native tree nursery to support local planting projects and provide hands-on experience and education in small-scale green industry operations.  

We are in need of Tree Nursery Assistants to help grow, maintain, and distribute stock at the nursery to grow high quality trees to be planted where they are needed most in our community. Our tree nursery is located at 681 Blair Road, Cambridge. 

There are many benefits to Volunteering at Reep Green’s Tree Nursery. You will: 

  • increase your understanding of the importance of conservation and contribute to the conservation and restoration of native trees in our community. 
  • gain skills in plant propagation, seed saving, and seed processing techniques.

Drop In Volunteer Days: April 17 – June 16

Tuesdays and Thursdays 10am – 3pm 

Advance notice of attendance will be required as capacity is limited each day. Alternate days and times can be arranged with the Tree Nursery Manager, Mon through Fri 10am to 3pm 

Tasks may include: planting seeds; weeding; watering; seed collection and processing; and the maintenance of trees, shrubs, and the greenhouse facility. Nursery needs will vary throughout the season. 

 You will need: Transportation to and from the greenhouse, closed-toe shoes, sunscreen/sun hat, and drinking water. 

 We will supply: Guidance, tools, a letter of recommendation upon request, and will serve as a reference if appropriate. 

 To protect the wildlife at the gardens and to ensure visitor safety, we must limit vehicle traffic at the gardens. No vehicles are allowed beyond the parking lot at 681 Blair Road unless they have a valid accessible parking permit and have registered their vehicle with rare.

Tree Nursery Volunteers NEEDED FOR AUTUMN 2024

Reep Green Solutions is looking for a talented individual to capture the essence of sustainability in action. As a photographer volunteer, you will work with the Reep Team and program participants. You will capture the excitement of workshops, events, and hands-on activities at the Reep House, as well as document energy and water upgrades and Reep home or business audits in progress. If you’re passionate about making a difference through your lens, we want to hear from you!

Objective of Position:  
As part of our Mission to make sustainability the norm in our community, we value high quality photographs that help to capture sustainability in action, showing participants and Reep team members. By volunteering to take photos with Reep Green Solutions, you would be helping spread awareness about sustainability. Your photographs will engage people and inspire them to take action in their own lives.

The Role of the Photographer volunteer: 

      • Become familiar with the visual communications at Reep that are enlivened by photographs, including website, annual report, events, newsletter, social media, and media releases;
      • Liaise with the Communications Manager and other team members to learn about opportunities to photograph events, services and/or participants in action;
      • Take photos at events, homes or businesses, workshops, Reep House. Set targets with supervisor and managers to build up a useful stock of high resolution, engaging photos in anticipation of our annual report, awards, event, etc.;
      • Seek feedback from Communications Manager and other team members regarding quality, resolution, usability, etc.
      • Catalogue and file electronic versions of photos in Reep’s shared drive; provide prompt turnaround from events to allow for news releases the following day.

 We’re looking for someone with: 

  • A professional camera/equipment is a requirement 
  • Experience in taking action and people photographs in high resolution; 
  • Strong visual sense for capturing emotion, movement, people connecting; 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; 
  • Ability to work independently, as well as to collaborate effectively; 
  • Strong organizational and responsive photo management skills; 
  • An interest in and commitment to community sustainability; 
  • A Photography portfolio or photography samples demonstrating a keen eye for capturing engaging images . 

Time Commitment:

  • Variable hours depending on your schedule;

Reep Green Solutions is seeking a proactive and technically proficient volunteer to manage our organization’s website using WordPress and Elementor. As the Website Management Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our online presence to effectively communicate our mission and engage our community.

We work to empower people with the practical tools, knowledge and capacity for action to make sustainable living the norm. Our current focus areas are home energy efficiency, water conservation, green infrastructure, and waste reduction. In short, we work together with the community on practical solutions for addressing and adapting to climate change. 

The Role of the Website Management Volunteer:

  • Be the go-to person for website related requests and changes for a WordPress hosted website;
  • Update content (text, images etc.) and improve layouts/formatting;
  • Collaborate with and provide recommendations to the Reep team on how to improve the user experience of our website to improve speed, ease of navigation and SEO.
  • Ensure our website is Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) compliant 

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Management: Create landing pages with text, forms, images, and multimedia elements with support from all teams.
  • Website Optimization: Ensure the website is user-friendly, mobile-responsive, and optimized for search engines (SEO).
  • Technical Maintenance: Monitor website performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure security protocols are up to date.
  • Design and Layout: Collaborate with Communications team to ensure consistent branding and visual appeal across the website.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Utilize web analytics tools to track site traffic, user engagement, and other key metrics. Provide quarterly reports and insights to improve site performance.
  • Integration and Development: Assist in integrating new features and functionalities as needed. Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript preferred.
  • Marketing Integration: Integrate email marketing campaigns and subscriber forms with the website.
  • Community Engagement: Collaborate with the communications team to promote events, campaigns, and initiatives through the website.
  • Continuous Learning and Improvement: Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in website management.

 Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in website management for WordPress and Elementor is required;
  • Experience with MailChimp and MS Forms;
  • Understanding of SEO principles and best practices.
  • Ability to effectively organize website information in visually appealing ways;
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in content and design;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • An interest in and commitment to community sustainability;
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team.
  • Prior experience with website management or digital marketing is an asset but not required.

 Term: We are looking for a minimum of a 1 year commitment from a dedicated volunteer, donating approximately 3-5 hours per month, as well as attendance at occasional meetings.

Volunteer Position: Tree Trust Advisory Panel Member at Reep Green Solutions 

Reep Green Solutions is seeking a passionate and community-minded volunteer to serve on the Advisory Panel for our Tree Trust program. As a Tree Trust Advisory Panel Member, you will play a crucial role in shaping program priorities and decisions that protect mature legacy trees across the Waterloo Region, helping to ensure that they continue to provide benefits to our communities for decades to come.

Reep Green Solutions is an environmental charity that helps people in Waterloo Region live sustainably. Our programs on home energy efficiency, water conservation, healthy yards, and waste reduction empower participants to take action. As part of our tree stewardship programs, Reep delivers the Waterloo Region chapter of Tree Trust. Tree Trust is a program with a mission to preserve our urban forest canopy and natural heritage through the care of our mature, legacy trees, started by the Elora Environment Centre. It is dedicated to caring for these trees through professional arborist services that help improve their health and longevity.

Objective of position:

The Tree Trust Advisory Panel is led by Reep Green Solutions staff and is comprised of community members and arboriculture industry professionals. The Advisory Panel’s purpose is to strengthen the decision-making process for selecting and caring for Tree Trust trees. Panel members will help to refine the criteria and weighting of factors in selecting candidates to be cared for using Tree Trust funds.  

On an ongoing basis, Panel members will be asked to review and assess Tree Trust candidates using eligibility criteria and recommend a prioritized list of trees to be cared for with Tree Trust funds.  

The role of the Tree Trust Advisory Panel Member:

  • Provide guidance on which trees to prioritize for care through Tree Trust funds
  • Help to refine criteria and weighting of criteria to improve decision making around selecting and caring for Tree Trust trees
  • Review and assess Tree Trust candidate trees based on eligibility criteria and recommend a prioritized list of the next trees to apply donations to care for
  • Spread awareness for Tree Trust within networks to encourage people to donate and nominate candidate trees

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A strong interest in trees, environmental stewardship, and/or sustainability
  • Established connections in their local community and a strong network through which to share the program
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team

Time commitment:

  • Attend three (3) panel meetings per year (in person or virtually), each approximately 60 minutes each
  • Attend occasional tree care and planting event days up to four (4) times per year
  • Two-year term with the opportunity for renewal once the term has been completed
