Program Coordinator
Virtual Part Time Contract Position

Are you a post-secondary student looking to make a difference in Waterloo Region? Do you want to use your passion for the environment, program development and outreach to make our community more sustainable? We are currently hiring a post-secondary student for a part-time contract.

The Role of the Program Coordinator
The Program Coordinator will support the Kids Cutting Carbon program’s design and pilot launch. Kids Cutting Carbon is a new program in collaboration with the school boards and the Project Neutral team to bring innovative climate education programming to students in Waterloo Region through Project Neutral’s carbon footprint calculating platform.

We’re looking for someone with
• Passion for taking climate action (knowledge of mitigation techniques is an asset)
• Excellent communication and public-speaking skills
• Leadership and community building skills
• Ability to work independently, as well as to collaborate effectively
• Experience with program development and marketing is an asset
• Experience delivering workshops to businesses and community groups is an asset
• Integrity and a passion for connecting with others
• Flexible working schedule and Project Neutral tool experience an asset

Funding for this role is provided in part by Eco Canada

Requirements
• Must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Canada
• A Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and
• Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
• Must have stable internet connectivity as this is a virtual role.

This is a part-time contract position, 20 hours per week for 22 weeks starting September 6th 2021. The hourly rate for the role is $16.35, set to reflect our commitment to providing a living wage for all of our team members.

Community Engagement Assistant, Green Infrastructure Programs

Are you a post-secondary or graduate student looking to make a difference in Waterloo Region? Do you want to use your passion for the environment, program development and outreach to make our community more sustainable? We are currently hiring a post-secondary student for a full-time 4 month contract.

The Role of the Community Engagement Assistant
In support of Reep Green Solutions’ mission, the Community Engagement Assistant will play a key role in the community outreach for the Rain Smart Neighbourhoods (RSN) program and other green infrastructure programs at Reep Green Solutions. The successful candidate will help to implement a community engagement strategy that includes interacting with the public through webinars, meetings, workshops, and events with the goal of working with residents to create beautiful Rain Smart yards that reduce flood risk and improve local water quality through implementation of green infrastructure.

Roles & Responsibilities
• Organize and lead a community engagement strategy in targeted neighbourhoods of RSN
• Complete on-the-ground and digital research to inform the community engagement strategy
• Develop and maintain a community engagement schedule for all staff and volunteers related to green infrastructure programs (specifically RSN)
• Conduct follow-up surveys and research to measure against program objectives.
• Analyze survey results to evaluate the effectiveness of the various methods employed by Reep Green Solutions to improve program delivery and service offerings
• Track and report on community engagement activities and other metrics associated with the project
• Maintain a reporting template for collection of results that can be easily integrated into reports; Produce well-written and easily understood reports that help to inform decisions and recommend logical next steps

We’re looking for someone with:
• Passion for taking climate action
• Excellent verbal communication and writing skills;
• Leadership and community building skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively 
• Experience with program development and marketing is an asset
• Experience working with community groups is an asset
• Knowledge of climate change and local sustainability issues, specifically focusing on green infrastructure is an asset
• Experience in project management, community engagement and mobilization is an asset
• Knowledge of survey design and spreadsheet analysis is an asset
• Current post-secondary student, graduate students are preferred

Must have:
• Access to a reliable vehicle to transport and set up materials (i.e. table, banners);
• Ability to work some daytime, weekends/evenings hours as needed;
• Ability to walk, climb stairs;
• Comfortable working outside, one on one and/or with groups of community members;
• A computer and a reliable internet connection is required as our office is now remote.

This is a full time contract position up to 35 hours per week, depending on the candidates’ schedule, for 15 weeks starting September 6th 2021. The hourly rate for the role is $16.35, set to reflect our commitment to providing a living wage for all of our team members.

Hours: Variable part-time or full-time, flexible hours

  1. You’re already a Registered/Certified Energy Advisor and you’d like to pick up some extra work
  2. You’re not registered, but you’re a contractor, renovator or handyperson interested in building science and home energy efficiency
  3. You’re an engineering or technical graduate with an interest in energy and climate action.

Not yet registered? We are accepting trainees. We will assist with your training and when you finish your exams, we’ll put you to work!

We’re looking for people with:

  • Knowledge of residential building science 
  • Excellent customer service and communications, verbal and written.
  • Interpersonal skills and passion for environment / climate action
  • Physical fitness: able to lift boxes of inventory, climb ladders, etc.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.

Bonus points:

  • Working knowledge of NRCan’s EnerGuide for Houses rating and evaluation system is an asset
  • Willing to work some evening and Saturday appointments is an asset but not required.

High impact environmental charity seeks a Residential Water Advisor for in-home consultations!

Do you have a strong water efficiency knowledge and good customer service skills? Do you want to make a difference, in a positive work environment?

Position: Residential Water Advisor
Program: WET Home Audit / Reep Green Solutions
Location: Kitchener, Waterloo Region and surrounding areas

Hours:  Variable part time on a 6-month term, 20-25 hours per week, flexible hours

Do any of these sound like you…?

  1. You have a background in water conservation technologies
  2. You have knowledge of incentive programs and residential water efficiency practices
  3. You’re a graduate with an interest in water conservation and climate action.

We’re looking for people with:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of residential water efficiency practices
  • Basic understanding of the Region of Waterloo’s WET Home Review Program
  • Exemplary customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Good communication (oral, written and telephone) skills
  • Good computer skills and the adaptability to learn how to use new software
  • Demonstrated commitment to environmental goals

Bonus Points:

  • Knowledge of water processes in multi-residential buildings an asset!

Must haves:

  • Possession of a valid Ontario driver’s license and;
  • Access to a reliable vehicle with liability insurance of not less than $1,000,000.

This position is responsible for working with clients in Waterloo Region and Guelph to detect common sources for leaks and to improve their water use efficiently.

Photos help tell the story of sustainable living. By volunteering to take photos with Reep Green Solutions, you would be helping spread awareness about sustainability. Your photographs will engage people and inspire them to take action in their own lives. 

 As a volunteer photographer, you would be placed on a mailing list and receive information about opportunities to take photos of Reep events and programs. We seek to provide an enriching, rewarding volunteer experience. Full credit would be given for all photos and we would help connect you with opportunities for mentorship and networking. 

This position would be ideal for anyone who wants to get started in environmental communications and has an eye for good photos. Email [email protected] if you are interested! 

Outreach and communications allow us to help people live sustainably. If you want to contribute to the shift towards sustainable living and learn about environmental communications, including ways to promote positive behaviours like healthy yards practices, home energy efficiency, water conservation and waste reduction, you are in the right place! 

 Reep Green Solutions is looking for people to help update our website, craft communications campaigns, and write blog posts. We are also looking for help with in-person outreach, including supporting events and talking to people about sustainability.
